The vision of Heartspring's CARE program is to meet the unique needs of families by providing resources, services, and a community of collaboration specific to autism spectrum disorders. We believe that all individuals with autism deserve and require evidence-based interventions and services that will allow them to reach their potential, and participate as fully as possible in family, school, and community life. At the same time, we recognize the fact that such interventions and services must be cost effective so that parents can maximize the limited funding available and optimize the services accessed for their child. The need for autism resources in Sedgwick County has never been greater with over 700 families identified as having a family member with an autism spectrum disorder. The CARE program has invited input from these families through a needs assessment survey. Based on the results on that survey, proposed services available to families through CARE at Heartspring will include: - Workshops designed to deliver research based information and resources, including presentations from nationally renowned and respected speakers in the field of autism research.
- Make-it Take-it Sessions designed for the development of strategies, interventions, and positive behavior supports specific to the needs of each family.
- Autism Summer Day Camp, with a focus on recreation/leisure skill development, social skills, and communication.
- Asperger Syndrome Summer Technology Day Camp, with a focus on social skills training, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Farming and Landscaping Curriculum located on the Heartspring campus.
- Private In-Home Consultations
- Hands on Training and Support individualized to meet the specific needs of families.
