Team up with local businesses to support the Heartspring CARE Program

Puzzle Pal, the Autism CARE Walk mascot, is at the center of a pin-up donation campaign to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorders during Autism Awareness Month in April. By adding as little as a dollar to their purchase, customers at participating area businesses can add their name to the wall of Puzzle Pal supporters. Not only do the donations help provide services to Wichita area families through the Heartspring CARE Program, the Puzzle Pals serve as a visual reminder of how many individuals are impacted by autism in our community.

Connie Erbert, director of CARE and autism outreach at Heartspring, hopes that the pin-up program will help cultivate a respect for all individuals with autism spectrum disorders. "Increasing awareness of autism spectrum disorders opens doors for individuals and families throughout our community."

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen, the Autism CARE Walk's presenting sponsor, was one of the first area businesses to participate in the pin-up program in 2010. This program proved to be a great success, spreading awareness throughout the community. Popeye’s employees have really gotten behind the program, collecting donations of change in boxes at the register and distributing small laminated cards with information about autism to customers.
